Welcome to SIT-MOVE – Mobility and Sedentary Behavior in Focus

Sit-Move Projects

Scientific initiatives on sedentary behavior and mobility.

Who We Are

SIT-MOVE brings together researchers, educational institutions, and centers of excellence from Brazil and abroad. Our interdisciplinary network connects experts in health, human behavior, epidemiology, and technology to address the challenges of sedentary behavior and mobility.

  • Our Mission: To advance knowledge and develop interventions that benefit global health.

  • Our Vision: To be a global reference in research on sedentary behavior and mobility.

  • Our Values: Innovation, collaboration, scientific ethics, and social impact.

Cyclists and pedestrians in motion create a dynamic and blurred scene on a city street, conveying speed and movement. People are captured with a sense of urgency as they navigate the urban environment.

Scientific Innovation

Thermal imaging is an advanced and non-invasive technique used to evaluate organic responses resulting from exposure to sedentary behavior. This tool detects variations in blood flow, providing precise information about physiological changes associated with prolonged sedentary positions. By measuring the infrared radiation emitted by the skin, it is possible to infer changes in microcirculation and body temperature patterns, which are sensitive indicators of metabolic and vascular impacts. This approach is widely recognized for its high sensitivity and its ability to contribute to studies on cardiovascular health, thermoregulation, and the effects of sedentary behavior on the human body.
